I just received an email that there has been released a new beta version of TaskMailer. Nothing important has been added as features. Note: All of the following mentioned / recommended programs are free at the moment and can be downloaded on the web.

The TaskMailer application that is currently available as free demo version has some problems right now. It is compatible with industry standards like ICal and VCal but it seems the most famous desktop task management application Microsoft Outlook does not support this format – at least not for tasks. It is easy to import ICal or VCal meeting / calendar requests into your Outlook calendar but tasks / todos are not recognized.

I just found an application called Sunbird which is made by the Mozilla guys (maker of Thunderbird email client and Firefox browser). This task / calendar management application supports ICal and VCal formats by default. Therefor, you can easily import a task into Sunbird which has been sent from your BlackBerry using TaskMailer to your mailbox.

Thunderbird Plugin Lightning
If you are using Thunderbird as email client you might want to have a more seamless integration into it. This just makes sense as you get your email into your Thunderbird email client anyway. Lightning is an extension for Thunderbird which provides exactly this.

We have just received some insight news that a new free beta version of TaskMailer is coming to us tomorrow. It will bring some new features but I don’t know what those features are. At least I don’t know yet

Well, I still can’t really understand why this program is still in beta as it is stable (I had never a crash or found a bug) and it is just doing what it is supposed to do. Well, we can keep using it for free during beta. That’s actually really nice Stay tuned with our feed and be up-to-date all the time!

We have just released this new beta version of TaskMailer which can be used for free by anyone who is interested. It comes with a lot of new features as well as some bug fixes. All current beta testers should have received a notice via email already. Thanks a lot for your feedback and support in this!

New features since version 1.2.0:

• Even slimmer design than version 1.1.0.
• Task can now be mailed out with just 2 clicks.
• Everything is in one screen (makes it faster to use); categories are wrapped up.
• EMail address can be entered directly; sending will be done in background.
• Font size is adjustable.
• Bug fixes: priority handling fixed, due date time issue (1h difference) fixed.

There is going to be a new TaskMailer version released very soon. The beta program is running for more than a month now and the program was very reliable since the beginning.

Here is the official description and feature list of the program’s latest version 1.1.0:

• Optional: save the task in your BlackBerry’s internal task database.
• Task preferences which can be entered: name, priority, status, due date, category / categories, notes.

New beta version 1.1.0 features:

• Slimmer design.
• Task can now be mailed out with just 3 clicks.
• Everything is in one screen (makes it faster to use).
• All settings are saved for convenience (status, priority, due date, categories, save to BlackBerry, iCal or vCal format).
• Hotkey (ENTER) to send a task quickly.
• vCal attchments are now attached as “vcal.vcs” file instead of using “vcal.ics”.

While it is in beta stage it is free to use this application. I guess, all beta testers will also get a huge discount on this nice app once it is released to public. However, beta version 1.2.0 will come to public soon, so this will be very interesting!

We just received a note from the guys at S4BB (maker of TaskMaster, NextAction!, HabitMaster, and so on) that they have another productivity application in development. It is called TaskMailer which is supposed to offer a very easy way to create and send a task to anyone by email. Below is the official statement from them:
