RIM announces delay on new BlackBerry Smartphones on Earning Call
By Benzoon | June 17th, 2011 | No Comments »
During the earnings call on Thursday, Mike Lazaridis, co-CEO and found of RIM revealed that the 4G BlackBerry PlayBook will be delayed until the fall. This is because:
RIM realized through their product development that consumer demand had shifted, and as such — required new hardware and new chip sets to be adapted to the BlackBerry platform in order to stay competitive.
With the launch of the BlackBerry PlayBook, RIM put resources forward to that launch and working on the QNX OS — given the time frames needed, if QNX was to be ported to BlackBerry Smartphones it would have left RIM with no smartphone lineup for all of 2011.
Technical carrier acceptance was an issue at the time, and things have moved slowly in that area. Once one device meets carrier requirements — all devices running the same OS (BlackBerry 7) should see rapid acceptance and ultimately release.
Originally, the 4G PlayBook was said to be releasing this summer. Sprint was one of the carriers who came out early to reveal they’d be carrying it, but I guess they won’t be rolling out new BlackBerry devices any time soon. Were you planning to get a new BlackBerry smartphone this year? Are you still going to wait or are you a loyal BlackBerry fan!?

Just like many others, have you ever experienced the embarrassment of dropping your phone into the toilet? Your first reaction was to probably turn the device back on to see if it’s still working but it doesn’t seem to turn back on. What should you do now? To save you the embarrassment of asking your friends for help and having to explain the story to them, here are the exact steps to revive your phone:
It probably won’t be a good idea to try to turn your phone back on when it is soaking wet, unless you want to short out your phone . The key is to dry your phone first and draw out all the moisture in the device. There are several ways you can do this. Put the phone in:

- a ziplock bag of uncooked rice and let it sit for a few hours
- a bag with some silica packets
- an oven with just the oven light on for a few days
- a bag of clay-based absorbent
- the sun
or you can blow dry it for a couple hours, while panting and worrying about your phone and hope it’ll be fine.
But if your phone happens to fall in salt water, you will need to rinse the phone out with distilled/deionized water first, in order to remove the salt. You shouldn’t rinse with tap water because the minerals/ions are conductive and will remain there after the water dries, which may cause a short circuit later on.
So no need to worry, calm down to take a deep breath and stop freaking out. Try out the tried and tested tips we’ve given above and your BlackBerry will be as good as new. Any suggestions or comments on how to solve this matter are always welcome.
Instill positivity in your BlackBerry handset at St. Timothy’s Anglican Church
By Rupal | September 5th, 2010 | No Comments »Gadgets and gizmos have become the tools for developments. Smartphones have become the latest to join the technical revolution, and have provided us a way to communicate effectively and easily with our friends, family members, and colleagues. When we talk about smartphones, how can we leave behind the super cool smartphone, BlackBerry? As a BlackBerry user, you must have tried out numerous applications for the smartphone. You would have come across various applications which have allowed you to perform your work effectively and efficiently. But, have you come across such a situation, where a BlackBerry smartphone was blessed by the Church?
Well, this is going to be a reality now. Yes, you can get your BlackBerry blessed by Rev. Lisa Vaughan. Rev. Lisa Vaughan from St. Timothy’s Anglican Church will organize a prayer this Sunday. She will be there to bless people with their electronic gadgets like smartphones and laptops. The special ceremony will be free for everyone, where anyone can come up with their electronic gadgets and gizmos to get it blessed by Rev. Lisa Vaughan. St. Timothy’s Anglican Church, which is located near the Hatchet Lake, is the most famous church in the Nova Scotia province. This Sunday, you should definitely visit the famous church in Nova Scotia, and do not forget to carry your BlackBerry handset along with you.
The ritual is quite similar to the traditional ceremony called ‘Plough Monday”. It was a ceremony where people use to come with their farming equipments and tools to get them blessed. According to Rev. Lisa Vaughan, the electronic gadgets used for the purpose of communication are the prime equipment and tools, which is intended for the development of the society. Therefore, it must carry the positive waves, and blessing is necessary to instill the positivity. During the ceremony, one cannot use his/her smartphone in any way. So, you will be asked to switch it off.
There is no doubt that mobile phones, smartphones, and laptops, occupy an important place in our life. They are the most effective way to communicate with our close ones and even with the people on the professional front. Blessing is quite necessary in every field. Be it either our personal life or professional life, blessing does instills a feel of positivity in our mind, which makes us more aware of the situation around us, thus making us more effective and productive. So, it will be a great way to give a fresh start to your professional and personal life.

China Mobile is all geared up to release two new BlackBerry device, Curve 8980 and Bold 9700.
By Rupal | September 2nd, 2010 | 1 Comment »There is no doubt that everyone eagerly waits for the launch of new BlackBerry smartphones in the market. And, as soon as that happens, customers jump into the queue to grab a piece of the new handset. A similar kind of situation can be seen in China because a new BlackBerry model is going to enter the China market. The new BlackBerry Curve 8980 very soon can be seen at the smartphone stores in China.
The device is going to make its entry in China after a long haul of almost of year. It is said that the Chinese carrier China Mobile will bring the new smartphone to the new market. We are yet to hear any official announcement from the maker of BlackBerry handsets, Research In Motion, or from the Chinese telecom company Chine Mobile. But, it is pretty much sure that the event is going to occur soon. And, it is also being speculated that the release will also include Bold 9700, through the same carrier.
The new model BlackBerry Curve 8980 made headlines last year during the month of October. At that time, some photos and features of the smartphone was leaked into the market, and thus, it was given a code name of Atlas. And, now it is back into the news, as it reappeared on a Chinese website. The Chinese telecom giant, China Mobile is all geared to launch the new BlackBerry Curve 8980 in China.
If we go by the features, the device is believed to be based on Wi-Fi technology. Now, this Wi-Fi seems pretty much interesting because this technology is not allowed by the Chinese telecom regulatory board. So, there is no doubt that RIM has managed to escape from the strict rules of Chinese regulatory restrictions. Last year, we were flooded with rumors that Verizon will be branded as the carrier of the BlackBerry model Curve 8980. But, unlike last year, it is quite sure that within couple of weeks the new smartphone will be seen at the mobile stores in China. The device is fully compatible with Wi-Fi technology, but it lags behind in 3G compatibility. But, you do not have to get disheartened because you can choose the other model, Bold 9700, which is fully compatible with 3G networks.
As far as the prices of the new smartphones are concerned, it is still unclear. But, one thing is for sure that the Curve will be cheaper than the Bold 9700.
