Incase you didn’t know, you need to charge your BlackBerry PlayBook with proper charger and not through USB connection to your PC. Therefore, it’s best to hook up your BlackBerry PlayBook with a proper charger. That’s why today, I recommend you the BlackBerry PlayBook Rapid Charging Pod.

With the PlayBook charging pod, you can display your PlayBook on the dock with style. The PlayBook fits firmly on the stand at an angle. But it’s not just a normal charger, it charges 2x’s faster than traditional charger. While your tablet is in the stand charging, you can still send emails, watch movies or listen to music. BlackBerryInsight has published a number of articles abouts tips and applications on how to save power on your BlackBerry device. I’ve listed a few below.

Ty.W from Inside BlackBerry has also published an article about Five Tips for BlackBerry Smartphone Power Users, which I think would be helpful to you guys and is worth sharing.

Tip 1 – Navigate menus quickly using your BlackBerry smartphone keyboard

This is a really handy tip that applies to BlackBerry smartphones that include a physical keyboard. Whenever you are presented with a menu, you can use your keyboard to quickly cycle through the various menu options by tapping the first letter of any option listed in the menu.

For example, in the screenshot at the top of this post, you’ll notice the menu that appears if you press the Menu key while using the Pictures application on your BlackBerry. If you want to select the “Set as Contact Picture” option, depending on which BlackBerry smartphone you are using, you can scroll up using the trackpad, or simply touch the screen.

My preferred method however is to hit ‘S’ on the BlackBerry smartphone keyboard, as this will start cycling through the Menu and land on anything that starts with an ‘S’. So the first time I hit ‘S’, the option of “Set as Wallpaper” will be highlighted. Hitting ‘S’ again will then highlight the “Set As Contact Picture” option, which is what I was looking for.

Another “great” article from PC World, after their last article about Four Reasons to Avoid the BlackBerry PlayBook, called Four Features the BlackBerry PlayBook Should Have. This time the author, Bruce Gain, discusses about some features that he thinks the PlayBook should have.

I don’t want to argue if his points a valid or not, but I just want to say, some of his concerns can be fixed by applications that are already available on BlackBerry devices and should also be on the PlayBook, when it releases.

See what four features Bruce thinks should be on the PlayBook and if you agree.

Yesterday, we listed a number of Battery Power Saving Tips for BlackBerry. But that is not all, in the article, we’re going to cover some specific battery power saving tips for BlackBerry Torch 9800 users. They are:

  • Close your Browser when not in use; ensure all Browser tabs are closed (close with the Escape key, not the red End key).
  • Exit your media player when not in use (or set the default timeout to a shorter interval within media > options).
  • Press the lock button (top left) before putting the device in a pocket (to avoid unnecessary display battery consumption).
  • Exit/close applications when not in use (especially any applications that utilize the GPS functionality).
  • Monitor/be aware of the frequency of Podcast and Social Feeds updates (you may want to disable automatic refreshing).
