Study claims 52% of BlackBerry users will switch to iPhone – Are you going to be one of them?
By Benzoon | October 2nd, 2011 | 6 Comments »
A recent study by InMobi, who claims to be the world’s largest independent mobile ad network, has announced astonishing results in their monthly InMobi Mobile insights network. The study concluded that 41% of people who conducted the survey in U.S., Canada, and Mexico will buy an iPhone 5. However, of the 41%, 52% of them are Blackberry users; followed by 51% of current iPhone users and 27% of Android owners.
So what does this mean? Apple is going to take over the world with their iPhone? Is RIM going to lose a whole chunk of its market share once iPhone 5 releases later this month? No one has a definite answer. But if this is true, RIM stock price are going to take a huge hit. It’s going to take more than a QNX system to get RIM out of the situation they are in right now.
However, in my opinion, it’s not going to be as extreme as it may seem. As we all know, BlackBerry smartphones are for business use and they are still good for that functionality. Most business people or bankers, I see walking around, have both a BlackBerry smartphone and an iPhone. It’s common to see such a sight in cities like New York and Hong Kong.
So what may happen is that 52% of these BlackBerry users will just buy an iPhone 5 as an additional phone, for their personal use. Honestly, I am doing that too. But I still heavily depend on my BlackBerry to get me through the day. That’s right, I haven’t lose hope in RIM yet and I am looking forward to seeing more great products from them.
That’s just my humble opinion. So what do you think? Or are you part of that 52% of BlackBerry users planning to switch to Apple? Leave us a comment below to let us know your thoughts.
Cya next time! Bye!

RIM Stops PlayBook Production – Are they exiting the tablet market?
By Benzoon | October 1st, 2011 | 2 Comments »
Rumor has it that RIM has stopped production of the BlackBerry PlayBook tablet, claims Collins Stewart analyst John Vinh.
“While Quanta last week acknowledged that it had laid off a significant number of production workers from a factory focused on producing the PlayBook, our research indicates that the ODM has essentially halted production of the tablet. Additionally, our due diligence indicates that RIMM has canceled development of additional tablet projects.” Vinh said in a note to investors citing anonymous sources within Quanta, the manufacturers for the PlayBook.
However, I can’t see this being true. In RIM’s Q2 results, they announced shipment over 200,000 PlayBooks in the last quarter; making it a total of over 700,000 PlayBooks shipped to date. I must admit, it’s not a whole lot, but still a lot compared to others. Yes, maybe the price points of the PlayBook tablet has been dropping recently. But I doubt we’ll be seeing another HP TouchPad. What are you thoughts about this rumor and the price drops of the PlayBook?
