The Canadian manufacturer Research In Motion had a great time in its third quarter, which was marked by the introduction of the BlackBerry Tour in the United States, coupled with a an increasing visibility around the world with the BlackBerry Curve and BlackBerry Bold. This seems to be just the trailer, because the real stuff is yet to hit the news. The latest buzz is that a touchscreen QWERTY slider is soon going to hit the market to provide tough competition to the popular business phones from HTC and Nokia.

The BlackBerry 9900, the phone to be released, is going to be a smartphone with a touchscreen QWERTY slider, as per Electronista. According to Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, the phone is currently in its prototype stage, and it is likely to be released in 2010. During the earlier part of this year, Research In Motion had announced that it intended to integrate a Webkit browser in a future version of BlackBerry OS, courtesy of a Webkit browser acquisition. Surely, it intends to leave no stone unturned in making sure that the BlackBerry 9900 stands a good chance of surviving the competition from the other phones in its category.

According to the Kaufman Bros. analyst Shaw Wu, it is possible that the BlackBerry 9900 might utilize a browser technology from Google or Microsoft. All this mans that Research In Motion’s new browser will support Google Gears and Microsoft SilverLight, whichever way it will need to be competitive enough to give tough competition to the devices from HTC and Nokia.

The efforts put in by Research In Motion are not limited to just these. A lot is being thought out and devised to make the all new BlackBerry 9900 invincible and unsurpassed in all aspects. At a recent developer conference, Research In Motion also announced that 3D graphics hardware acceleration and Adobe Technology will be part of future BlackBerry smartphones. So we hope that we get to see both these features in the BlackBerry 9900, and with them it can also give some tough time to the recently released Motorola Droid for Verizon Wireless.

As of now, all we can do is to wait patiently and just dream and anticipate about the recent addition to the BlackBerry family, that sounds mind-blowing though; and then decide whether it is worth the wait and excitement!
