Ever had one of those days when you were in a real hurry to get to office and the gods choose just that day to block the roads with traffic? Your important presentation is getting late but the traffic snarl in front of you is driving your frustration to tears almost. Getting stuck in a traffic jam when you are in a hurry- this situation is faced by almost all of us most of the times in our life. Don’t you wish at that time that if only you had a special device which could tell you the details of the traffic in the roads so that you could device a roundabout way to avoid the traffic?

There are GPS systems but to install that in your car would make a big hole in your pocket. Moreover you would not require it all that often too. So a GPS system which comes on as an added feature with something would have had been ideal. This wish of the people was answered by the manufacturers of BlackBerry phone. The Blackberry comes equipped with a unique feature which is known as Octo Traffic. Octo Traffic takes GPS systems to another level as it gives real time traffic condition updates to the user.

The traffic information is displayed via a code based on colours ranging from “black” to “green”. This color combination has been chosen inspired by the traffic regulation lights on the Italian highways network, on main national road and on urban highways of Rome, Milan, Naples, Florence, Turin and Bologna. Real time traffic information are available through cars fitted with Octo Telematics system which acts as a mobile data system. Information structure includes highway name and code and /or urban area name, road trunk, direction and traffic status via a color code. The traffic informations are usually refreshed every 3 minutes.
If it is not possible to observe traffic conditions over a specific stretch of road then it is coloured in grey.

The basic features of Octo Traffic are as follows-
• Display of information according to information structure present in Italian highways.

• Information is got from a fleet of mobile units fitted with Octo Telematics system
• Traffic news is updates every 3 mins.
• If information is not available then that stretch of road is shown in grey.
