Orangatame’s TwitterBerry is a mobile client that lets BlackBerry users post updates on Twitter. Twitter.com is an online social network service for family, friends and co-workers to stay connected and communicate by exchanging their answers to one question- “What are you doing?” TwitterBerry is a BlackBerry application that provides BlackBerry users with a similar facility. As this works over the data network, one does not need to use the SMS service for this.

TwitterBerry allows BlackBerry users to access all the basic functions offered by Twitter. Each time the T icon is clicked, a screen asking “What are you doing?” will pop up. Here the user can type his or her latest Twitter message. As in the online version of Twitter, there is a limit of 140 characters per message.

The main menu button will list a series of options available to the user. Friend’s timeline allows you to see what other Twitter users are doing and the Get replies feature allows you to see the latest replies posted. The Public timeline shows the latest tweets posted by the general public.

TwitterBerry is a great application for keeping in touch with friends and family while on the road and is a lot more convenient when compared to SMS. The TwitterBerry version 0.8 has a lot more interesting features to offer the BlackBerry users. First and foremost it allows for direct messaging. Additionally it also allows users to view the direct messages that have been sent and received. TwitterBerry 0.8 also allows viewing of friends list.

Before downloading the TwitterBerry application, you will need to meet the minimum system requirements and ensure your device is supported. TwitterBerry will run on any supported BlackBerry device with an OS of 4.0.2 and above. You will also require a BlackBerry Internet Browsing Service commonly known as BIBS. TwitterBerry works on all the BlackBerry series including and above the BlackBerry 7100.

Getting the application on the BlackBerry is a simple procedure. You will need to go to the official Orangatame Software Download page that can be easily found online. Once there you can either choose to load it via your USB on to your BlackBerry or directly download the application to your device over the air. The latter would be advantageous for those who have an unlimited data plan. Once you have chosen your desired method, click the link. If you have chosen over the air download, you will be prompted to install the software. If you have downloaded it to your USB, you will be required to upload it to your device before installing it.

In the article you mention version .6. Would you mean .8? That is the latest version right now.

I just want to verify this, I called verizon and they said that using twitterberry would use my texts just like texting or any other instant messaging like aol or yahoo. Is this true? dose anyone know anything about this? I wish it would be like usine blakbery messaging where its not counted as text because my plan only has 500 texts per month and I’m afrid now that I signed up on twitter that wil go over in days. Any in put or ideas will be apriciated.
    Thanks
