Garmin GPS
Global positioning systems are taking over the way people travel these days, with accurate mapping and turn by turn directions on offer they promise to get you to your destination in the fastest way possible. These systems however involve a good amount of capital cost and thereby make it usable only for the upper class. But now there is a change that has come about with the release of affordable and efficient range of GPS devices. Taking this one step further would be the introduction of GPS in mobile phones which is what Garmin has done.
Garmin is a GPS manufacturer that is based in UK and is known for its range of in car sat nav systems and hand held GPS systems. The latest avatar of the GPS technology has found its way into Blackberry phones that have or may not have built-in GPS receivers. This system allows the GPS to be used with utmost ease and also does not allow the need for the user to by carrying around the GPS receiver if it is built into the phone. The GPS system incorporated into these phones is in no means a compromised application as it features all the applications that are available commercially with the Garmin full fledged Hand held GPS devices. There is step by step instructions addressing the move that has to be made by the driver depending on the location he wants to reach The system also uses live map data from the Internet so that we can get access to points of interest and also get information about spoken addresses etc. There is dynamic content that is streamed live to the blackberry device that helps to keep the driver abreast of changing weather conditions along with traffic congestion information, live flight schedules, lowest fuel prices etc. There is also access to Google using the application where once can find places of interest simply by typing the name out on the search engine interface. The main advantage with Garmin’s state of the art application is that the application can be used on both inbuilt GPS blackberrys as well as ones without GPS as the plan of the application comes along with a GPS receiver that is capable of interacting with live data from the satellites and co-ordinating it with the blackberry phone.
Garmin’s latest creation promises to change the way people use positioning information in more sophisticated and more efficient ways.
