Although there are several vital features that a Blackberry boasts, it has always been a jarring omission that blackberry has left out a software that can convert voice to text. Several Blackberry models like the Blackberry Storm have incorporated a range of touch sensitive features that allow users to experience a very intuitive way of handling a mobile phone. But thanks to the blackberry’s mold-able interface and free programming development features, a new software that converts the voice of the user to text has been uncovered. This software termed as MyCaption works in a very similar way to voice to text programs found on certain computers.

MyCaption promotes voice as its new keyboard, and by doing so it aims to address the needs of the business class audience with the Blackberry models who cannot afford to spend time to type out mails to people. This software has a very clean user friendly interface that can convert in the simplest and most efficient manner, voice to text. There are several review tools available in the software that can be used by the customer to review the text once again before sending it to the desired person. If you have any worries regarding how the MyCaption application might gel wit the Blackberry phone, then you need not worry any more as it becomes a part of the Blackberry interface unlike any other software before. A click on the Reply(MyCaption) and other such icons will allow the user to convey his message to the phone in the form of voice data that will be converted to text data by the MyCaption application. The voice to text feature is not only limited to the mails but can be used for memos and tasks including spelling out contacts names also. It is also applicable for third party applications like Outlook, Google etc. Some of the most distinct features of the MyCaption software are that it offers up to three minutes worth of conversion from voice to text, the extremely user friendly text review facility that makes it very easy for the user to check what he has voiced and also a highly customizable dictionary that is capable of checking the message for tone and grammar mistakes.

With the advent of such an application, MyCaption have certainly outdone themselves and have introduced a software that is going to be of immense help for business professionals as well as personal service users. The software is currently available for free trial download.

They are out of their minds if they think I’m going to pay every time I use the software for voice to text. It should be a one time cost for the software!

It looks like the software RECORDS your voice first, then uploads the recorded audio to their site, converts it to text there, THEN emails you back with the text. Kinda Convoluted if you ask me. But then Voice-to-text is a high cpu application so to expect a little PDA to do heavy horspower work like that is asking a lot. Yeah, I wouldn’t pay-per-message either but if you have deep pockets, it would be cool.

I would LOVE a voice to text app for my Storm (that I buy once).
