I have an 8830. The display resolution is 320x240(4:3) and it measures 2" wide by 1.5" tall. Recorded TV shows fit perfectly, as SD TV aspect ratio 4:3.

The new Bold increases resolution to 480x320(3:2), but the width of the phone & display is the same, 2". Correct?

That means the display height is only 1.33". That's a smaller display! SD TV (4:3) on the Bold will only be 1.78"x1.33" (letter bars left and right). That's 56% smaller viewing area than my 8830.
