Forget printing out your boarding pass. The coolest way to get it is on your PDA or cellphone. You order up the pass, show the screen to TSA reps and they scan the bar code. Saves paper and time. Or does it?
I tested the new Mobile Boarding Pass, as Continental Airlines calls it, this week at Newark International Airport (EWR) on the way back to Los Angeles from a New York visit. It’s available in only a few airports. Here’s what I found:
Deal: I saved paper and so, I figure, helped the environment. Plus I felt hip and high-tech. It was pretty easy. For quicker upload from my BlackBerry 8700g, I accessed Continental’s mobile site, which also links to useful info such as flight updates, seat maps and standby lists.

Besides the rumors about a new version of TaskMaster we just received a note that there are more productivity applications coming for the BlackBerry® Wireless Handheld.
Mobile productivity seems to be a very interesting field - especially for BlackBerry users. Most of you are managers and high ranking executives who mostly don’t have that much time and need to be productive in every minute of your life. Applications for your BlackBerry might help you to get organized (i.e. with David Allen’s Getting Things Done), to develop yourself in a new way or just track your task processing speed.
Anyway, we are curious on the new stuff and will report on this right away!

While browsing and reading some articles in the news I just found a nice footnote at an article of IDG Norway.
* RIM’s BlackBerry operating system gets the highest marks from enterprise users for its security features, as 41.2% of users surveyed say they most closely associate it with having strong security. Similarly, more users associate the BlackBerry with having the best ease of use (38.6%) and the lowest IT help desk support (36.8%) than any other platforms. Microsoft’s Windows Mobile platform, meanwhile, gets the highest markets for having the best application compatibility (58.8%) and for having the largest available device selection (48.2%).
* Nearly half (45.6%) of all IT decision makers surveyed think that Verizon Wireless offers the best mobile enterprise data plans, followed by AT&T Wireless (32.5%) and Sprint Nextel (14%).

We know the BlackBerry’s main advantage - compared to competitors - is the security architecture. Not only the BlackBerry’s device security, but especially the BlackBerry Enterprise Server’s security and integration architecture. There are a bunch of articles on the Internet about mobile security guide lines which discuss those manners quite detailed. However, if we take a look to the BlackBerry enterprise market most companies protect their BlackBerry fleet with a company IT policy. (It is still possible to remove the IT policy of your BlackBerry
- please be reminded that this might be an offense in your country of residence)
Even if you are not an enterprise user (like we at BlackBerryInsight) you should take care of the data you load onto your BlackBerry. What a coincidence that we have the right article on this for you: How to secure your BlackBerry.

The WildCharger, a sleek tray with a conductive surface, lets you charge compatible gadgets without the usual tangle of wires. Capable of delivering 15 watts of power, the wireless charging pad can charge four gadgets at a time. To charge a device, you first need to attach an adapter to its back cover. You then place the gadget on the tray, which transfers power to the adapter’s contact points and into your device. The charging tray costs $60. An adapter for the RAZR V3 phone is $35. Additional adapters for other gadgets, including the BlackBerry Pearl, the Apple iPod Nano and the Apple iPhone, are in the works.

“I’m not making this up. People are running out of their two-year contracts and they’re coming into the stores and they want to be able to do Facebook and they want to be able to do instant messaging and they want to be able to do e-mail and they ask for those features thinking that they’re going to get another flip phone and they’re walking out with a (BlackBerry) Curve or a Pearl because they’re the best devices for doing those kinds of activities.”

Helen Tuffy, Head of Consumer Data at Vodafone Australia says that “BlackBerry was once the workhorse of the pinstripe suit brigade, but look at how the handset has developed and matured; it’s gone from bulky designs to smooth, slim and full of tricks with gunmetal, chrome and titanium-look finishes. BlackBerry is now very sexy.”
