It seems Handango is testing a beta version of their new store engine at http://beta.handango.com. It looks quite similar to the current store at http://www.handango.com but is still somehow different. First of all the width is bigger than before and several components of the layout were re-located. I made a screenshot for you guys:

Handango Beta Store

The device selection is also kind of new but it automatically found out that I am running a BlackBerry Curve :)

Moreover, they seem to use more JavaScript or AJAX to show us a preview of products you hover with your mouse. It looks pretty nice:

Rumors: TimeTracker to get voice support
Some time ago we reported about the final release of TimeTracker. A small but neat tool for any kind of consultants, lawyers and other people who bill their clients on time basis. It is based on sessions which can be customized to the current client for the billable price per hour.

Now there are rumors out there which say TimeTracker will get voice support for recording a session. That would make sense, especially when you also want to have proof of what you said at a specific session. It seems to be an useful addition to the current TimeTracker features.

Next week Apple will unveil new iPhone features to appeal to business to help it compete with the BlackBerry phone.

The announcement will also include information for programmers about how they can create software for the iPhone.

IT Wire says what’s exciting about Apple’s announcement is that Apple looks to be moving towards taking the enterprise market more seriously, opening up the iPhone to becoming a true competitor to RIM and Windows Mobile 6 for corporations and businesses.

BlackBerry Pearl 8120
Especially if you are using Wi-Fi powered BlackBerry devices this is very useful. Sometimes one just wants to know if the BlackBerry can reach other computers on the network or not.

The basic method of “pinging” an IP address is the first step you would do on your desktop computer. All WiFi powere BlackBerry devices like the 8320 Curve, 8820 and 8120 Pearl come with such a feature directly built-in into your BlackBerry OS! That is really convenient!

So here is the step-by-step howto:

  • Go to your Home Screen.
  • Select Options.
  • Go to Wi-Fi Connections.
  • Open the menu.
  • Select Wi-Fi Diagnostics.
  • Open the menu.
  • Select Ping.
  • Scroll down one field.
  • Enter an ip address or computer name.
  • Open the menu.
  • Select Ping.

You will see the results below. Have fun! :)

You can get free software, wallpapers, ring tones, news, tips & tricks, home screens and more at the “BlackBerry Owners Lounge”.

Imho: entering the IMEI of my BlackBerry is some kind of overkill. Anyway, obtaining this is not that difficult - even though one of the preferred method of removing the BlackBerry’s battery is really crap! Do you guys at RIM actually know how long a BlackBerry takes to reboot? :)

Check it out at: http://na.blackberry.com/eng/ownerslounge/

Google LogoBrightpoint
If RIM does not want to do that, Brightpoint will do it!

The Batesville Herald Tribune reports that Brightpoint Inc. “sealed a deal” with Google to install Google Search and Google Maps on Brightpoint’s smartphones.

Sounds like BlackBerry Maps is getting a serious competitor on their mother device. Having a pretty good search engine on my BlackBerry would be a real advantage as well. Sometimes you need to search something when you are on the go.

LinkedIn on your BlackBerry
Tech Digest reports about a Wap compatible website from LinkedIn.

We were able to check the site out on a BlackBerry Curve 8320 and it worked really good. This is not a comprehensive on-device application like the Facebook client from RIM to access Facebook, but the website is BlackBerry compatible and provides most features of the normal LinkedIn services.
