LogicMail for BlackBerry: Free Pop and Imap EMail client for BlackBerry devices

LogicMail is a free (beer) and opensource (freedom) POP and IMAP EMail client for BlackBerry devices. It’s project description reads as followed:

LogicMail is a J2ME E-Mail client supporting IMAP and POP, and designed to run on RIM BlackBerry handheld devices. Its goal is to provide an alternative to the service-oriented “push” E-Mail system that the device normally provides, so we can also use our conventional E-Mail services. The inspiration for this project came from the now defunct Mail4ME project, as well as some of the initial protocol code.

With this nice application it is possible to get nearly any EMail account connected to your BlackBerry in a very easy way!

I followed the instructions here: h ttp://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?hl=en&answer=13287 and managed to get my Bold to receive emails. However, it retrieved older emails — Oct 3 to 10 — instead of the latest ones. Also, when I send my mail, it doesn’t send.

Could you please help to right my wrongs?

I want to know if theres anyway to get it to fetch and push my e-mails and maybe show a badge with how many unread e-mails i have?

    Thank you,

  • Jeanine

I downloaded and finally got all the settings correct. It conected and loaded a list of emails. I downloaded on 12/29/09. The email list I got was from 03/12/09. Nine months old.

What can I do to fix?

This seems the perfect solution for what I want. My BB is on a BES server for work. I have the Gmail app for my business Gmail account and want to use your product for my personal gmail account.

If I can get this functioning – I can get all my mail on my BB which would be incredible!

    Thanks – Jeanine

I installed Logicmail on my Blackberry Curve 8900 this morning and it does receive my IMAP and POP3 based email over wi-fi. But when I turn off the Wi-Fi i cannot read the emails. Does anyone know how to actually download the emails onto the phone? I’ll keep looking to see what I find. Thanks.
