Just got a note from Rich at Bootstrapper that they put together a really good researched article which mentions every important software you could use to get even more from your BlackBerry.
I don’t want to repeat everything they wrote but one thing seems to be obvious: They might have already took a look to our BlackBerry and GPS guide.

“Masabi and GrIDsure have announced that they have co-developed a new secure ID system using mobile phones. By using Masabi’s EncryptME, the certified Java security application for mobile phones featuring 1024bit RSA encryption, and GrIDsure’s ID technology, mobile phones can act as discrete secure one time password tokens or provide networked two-channel transaction authentication for the highest levels of security.”
It looks the BlackBerry is getting even more secure and can carry a lot of security applications. The first deployments of this solution are planned for late 2007 and will be available BlackBerry and Symbian mobile devices.

TCL, a traditional home appliance maker and a burgeoning mobile phone brand in China, is about to re-launch Alcatel-branded handsets in this country.

It is reported that TCL Communications has got the full support from Alcatel Lucent, the parent company of Alcatel. Along with the announcement of TCL, Alcatel Lucent also said that it would kick off distribution of Blackberry 8700 handsets of RIM in China, which is said the first product to be launched by TCL Communications.

We found it for you. Alan wrote some interesting small apps that are really useful! I like the “SoftReset” application as my Pearl can only be resetted by such an application or by removing and replacing the battery. Which is kind of inconvenient.

Earthcomber is the fastest, easiest way to find what’s around you. Anywhere in the USA.
That’s what they are telling at the main page of Earthcomber. This application is available for a variety of mobile devices (like Nokia, Windows Mobile, Palm) and even the BlackBerry. It seems to be just availale for the USA by now but that’s a start.
What is it doing: Based on the current GPS position this application finds interesting spots around you and presents them on your phone. You can even customize location types the application should look for, which allows you to find only places that of your interest.
I will give it a try these days.

The final version of MobileTracker has been released. The most important new features are: photo support (which allows you to embed photos into your tracklog taken with your BlackBerry camera) and GPX file export. Besides that, the KML tracklog file format seems to be replaced by the KMZ file format which is also able to carry photos in a file. So the “embedding photo” feature is only available for KMZ tracklog files to watch your tracklog at Google Earth.
