Nokia says: “BlackBerry is not the enemy”

Mathia Nalappan is the vice president for Enterprise Solutions in Nokia Asia Pacific.
Nokia’s E61 business device has been presented as a “BlackBerry Killer” (you can’t believe how I hate this expression) on so many pages, blogs and forums. Even though it was never designed to start killing the BlackBerry! Mathia told us:
“as it’s not only a BlackBerry-type of device but it runs BlackBerry Connect software
Well, we know that as it is not as easy to copy the BlackBerry. However, really interesting is the following:
“Over-the-air deployment is another part of this. There’s no way you can cope with the large geography in Australia or many other countries if you have to bring all the devices back to the company to install the client. So this is a multi-prong approach for us.
This is one of the real advantages of the BlackBerry platform and its advantage. The BlackBerry Enterprise Server allows the administrator to pushes applications onto all BlackBerry devices that are part of the enterprise. So it is not the device Nokia is competeting to - it is the architecure, system that has been built around the BlackBerry. Including the BES, MDS and the providers.
