Watch YouTube Videos on your BlackBerry

BlackBerry Web Video Generator Cover

S4BB Ltd. released the “BlackBerry Web Video Generator” today. It allows users to put in a YouTube Video-URL which gets automatically downloaded, converted and optimized for the BlackBerry. It supports the BlackBerry Pearl and the new BlackBerry 8800, which are currently the only devices with full video support. The program has a similar concept as the “BlackBerry Video Generator” which converts video files to a BlackBerry optimized format. We wrote about it in an earlier article.

There is a promotion on the “BlackBerry Web Video Generator” at MobileSoftMarket. They provide a discount of 25% off within this month.

Discount Code: V00A2C (can be entered at the end of the purchase process and is valid before 2007-02-24)
(Tip: This discount code can also be used for all other products in their shop)

  1. How is this any different than using greasemonkey to download the video and then using mencoder to transcode?

For more info on a free way to do this, email me with subject header “blackberry mencoder settings”

  2. What’s the easiest way to view YOUTUBE videos on my blackberry? Is there software available? I want to be able to just go to youtube or yahoo videos and just watch them. Is this even possible???

    Thank you.’

  4. Bull sh*t!! spend that much on a phone and you can’t watch youtube videos on it? what a load of crap!

  5. yes guys, i mean if u have purchased BB for good and have spent money to get a so called solution for yourselves, still if u cant watch tou tube, sounds embarrassing in front of other users than BB.
MOREOVER cant download more than 3 mb files. ……………

BB engineers should be thinkin about it with biting their nails.

  6. Yeesh. For so long I was frustrated with my Treo 700p, and when work offered me a Curve I jumped at it. Now I’m stuck with this POS with crappy browsers, no touchscreen, no good MS Office editor/viewer, and no streaming videos. PLUS I’m stuck with “EDGE” coz my cheap-ass employers won’t use a real service provider.

I miss EvDO, and I miss a well-designed smartphone. The grass was definitely not greener on the BB side of the fence.

  7. WiFi on the BlackBerry is really fast and there are even nice browsers available. Once you have OS 4.5 running the original BB browser is much better. DocumentsToGo is also available for BlackBerry and works as fine on the BB as it works on a Treo.

The thing with the Treo is that Palm did not update their OS for 8 years and I don’t see any development on that front right now. They should better switch over to Windows Mobile or even Android…

  8. I love my blackberry. It is a really good phone but I just can’t watch youtube on it. People have iphones and the can watch youtube. Why can’t blackberry? They are both considered “smartphone” so why couldn’t the makers of blackberry enable youtube? I have tried everything to get it to work. I even went to the menu and clicked options just to make sure that flash was on and it was but it still woudlnt work. help? Please and thank you!!!
