GPS & mapping tool Spot now supports the new BlackBerry 8800 generation

The famous GPS & mapping tool Spot just announced that it is now officially supporting the BlackBerry 8800 generation.

They say that the BlackBerry 8800 seems to be perfect for their GPS & mapping application as it comes with an already built-in GPS receiver. As we have already reported that Spot will support filesystem access for data import and export as well as for map images on the Pearl, we think these are not only features for the Pearl. As the BlackBerry OS 4.2 comes with file access and SD-Card support for its devices this might be a restriction/feature from the OS. As long as the old BlackBerry OS 4.1 does not support such access these features will not be available on devices running the BlackBerry OS 4.1.
The BlackBerry 8800 is a new device and marks the beginning of a new BlackBerry generation. We will see how the Spot will work on the new device.
