8703e at Sprint/Nextel
There are a lot of blog articles on the net containing links to the “Sprint Shop”. It seems to be interesting to take a look to the shop and check out the device.
Two interesting articles on this:
Btw: the naming convention of RIM for the BlackBerry 8703e is quite confusing. Why do they publish a device with the exact model name (8703e) for different network carriers? They never did things like that! But the real problem is: the devices seems to have different features. The Sprint/Nextel version comes with an activated built-in GPS receiver and the Verizon one with a deactivated built-in GPS receiver. Even though this receiver is still part of the device, so it is just deactivated by the firmware (aka Verizon’s BlackBerry OS customization).
I am wondering if the 8703e from Verizon would work with the BlackBerry OS from Sprint/Nextel? That might be a great hack and would enable the Verizon 8703e to use its already built-in GPS receiver! ![]()
